In the midst of the CO2 shortage, this craft brewery needed full control of its gas supply. Having evaluated the air demand, Industrial Air Systems provided a customised package to maximise efficiency and reduce operational costs.
With beers sold all over New Zealand, the team at Crimson Badger Brewing were looking for a way to reduce operating costs. They decided to bring their Nitrogen supply on-site, eliminating the need for cylinder deliveries and the risk of delays.
They reached out to our team for a customised package, complete with everything they need to run efficiently. Take a look at the challenges we faced and the solutions we produced in this case study.
In the midst of the CO2 shortage, this craft brewery needed full control of its gas supply. Having evaluated the air demand, Industrial Air Systems provided a customised package to maximise efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Crimson Badger Brewing is a craft brewery based in Queenstown. The team started with their signature alcoholic ginger beer, soon followed by mulled wine, cider, beer, and more.
With over 5,000 Litres packaged each day, this hardworking team takes pride in high-quality products. Paired with their sustainable values, this led them to seek on-site nitrogen generation that could improve every step in the brewing process.
Industrial Air Systems worked closely with the Crimson Badger team, evaluating the company's compressed air and nitrogen consumption. We developed up a customised package, including an 11kw variable-speed rotary screw compressor, a refrigerated dryer with 4-stage filtration to activated carbon, air and N2 storage receivers, and a 5m3/hr Pneutech Nitrogen Generator. We also piped the air and N2 to the required areas using Pneutech's Alu Air piping.
Now equipped with an on-site nitrogen generator, the team at Crimson Badger Brewing have complete control of their gas supply and costs. Compared to renting high pressure cylinders, the costs per cubic metre are drastically reduced, providing peace of mind regardless of market fluctuations or delivery delays.
The new variable-speed compressor also enhances efficiency, matching demand and reducing power consumption during downtime.
