Nitrogen Generation for Bain Road Wines

When your winery sits in a remote location, every supply run becomes a logistical puzzle. For Bain Road Wines, the constant need to collect high-pressure nitrogen bottles was eating into both time and budget.

They were interested in generating N2 gas onsite to eliminate these ongoing problems. Here's how we delivered a solution that gave them complete control over their nitrogen supply.

Overview

Remote wineries face unique challenges when it comes to gas supply. Having evaluated the gas demand, Industrial Air Systems provided a customised package to maximise efficiency and reduce operational costs.

The client

Bain Road Wines is a winemaker operating across multiple vineyard sites. The team manages their entire process from growing grapes right through to bottling, giving them complete control over their product quality.

They are one of the bigger growers in the district, and their remote location, combined with substantial nitrogen usage made them ideal candidates for an on-site generation solution.

The solution

Industrial Air Systems worked closely with the Bain Road team, evaluating their gas spending and offering various payment terms to suit their return on investment requirements. Bain Road Wines purchased a complete skid-mounted Nitrogen Generator package, including a Pneutech VSD Screw Compressor, Refrigerated dryer and filtration, a Pneutech Nitrogen Generator, along with a N2 storage receiver, all assembled and ready to plug in onsite and use.

The payback period was rapid, and IAS offered flexible payment terms that suited their return on investment requirements. With the unit in stock, delivery was arranged as soon as the administrative process was completed.

The results

The onsite nitrogen generation system delivered immediate results. Bain Road Wines found the package worked brilliantly from day one, providing plenty of gas for their operations and proving surprisingly straightforward to operate.

Long-term benefits include complete control over their nitrogen supply with minimal maintenance (just weekly checks as trained). The system provides consistent gas flow and purity, whilst IAS improved their supply infrastructure by installing additional piping to major processing areas around the winery.

Most importantly, there's no more handling and collecting high-pressure hire bottles, and no more worrying about having sufficient gas for daily or weekly operations. The variable speed compressor also enhances efficiency, matching demand and reducing power consumption during quieter periods.
